3.Glass Castle- How does the title relate to the book?

The title Glass Castle relates to the book because that is the house that her father promised when he would get enough money that he would build for his family. Throughout her childhood he would continue to promise her that one day he would build it. I also believe that it symbolizes that one promise that he promises her and how he never kept that promise and how she always longed for it. It is the one thing that always stayed the same. Even though many things in their life were not this promise remained the same.

2.Jeannette Walls-Glass Castle

The author of the Glass Castle jeannette walls grew up with free spirited parents a older sister and a younger brother and a younger sister. She moved around alot as a child and had to lived with parents who were not always around. While growing up she had to learn how to fend for herself. As she grew up she got out of her poverty sticken life and became a gossip journalist form MSNBC. She also has written three books; The half broke horses, Dish:How Gossip Became the News and the News Became Just Another Show and The Glass Castle.

Why i chose my book

I chose the glass castle because last year i saw someone reading it in one of my classes. I asked her how it was and she said that it was a great book and if i ever had the chance that i should read it. Also i heard a lot of people talking about how good it was and how much they enjoyed it. Those are the reasons i picked the glass castle to read.

Why I Write: Pam Houston

In this essay Houston talks about the different reasons why she writes. She writes because she loves to she loves language, how the words can fit together. The different ways that the words can rhyme. She also writes because it is her way of escaping the outside world. She writes because she doesn't believe in anything else "I write because i don't believe in truth, in non-fiction, or history, or biography or anyone who says "this is how it really happened."(Houston) I like the way that Pam Houston wrote this, she is saying that she doesn't believe that things can be perfect. She also somewhat believes that some people are wrong about what they write because they wrote or said this is how something happened. Her love of writing really comes out in this text because she writes about how writing really makes her feel like.

Reaction to "Why I Write" by Terry Tempest Williams

Williams really got the point across of why she writes when writing this text. She states all the reasons why she writes. She uses repetition in almost  every line, each line starting with why i write. I thought that this was a very helpful text because she brings up things that i never even thought of. I like how she started the text with a dream she had and how it lead her to recite the reasons why she writes. Also i like how one sentence kind of lead to the next one as in if she wrote " I write to discover the next line would be " I write to uncover." All in all i thought that this text was very helpful and interesting.
